First time ever any French payload will be carried by ISRO in its Venus mission scheduled for 2025



Earlier ISRO has announced to launch its Venus mission, Suhkrayaan-1 in 2025. In a new developed regarding this mission, French space agency CNES said on Wednesday that it will take part in the Venus mission of ISRO.

In a statement CNES said that, the VIRAL (Venus Infrared Atmospheric Gases Linker) instrument co-developed by LATMOS Atmospheres, an environments and space observations laboratory attached to the French national scientific research centre CNRS, in collaboration with Russian federal space agency Roscosmos has been selected by ISRO to be taken on board in its mission to Venus.

CNES in a statement said, “In the domain of space exploration, France will be taking part in ISRO's mission to Venus, scheduled to launch in 2025. CNES will coordinate and prepare the French contribution, the first time a French payload will be flown on an Indian exploration mission.”

However, ISRO has not made any official announcement regarding this French participation in Shukrayaan-1 mission.

After US and Russia, France is the 3rd biggest collaborator of India in its space adventure. India and France are currently working on ISRO’s Gaganyaan Mission, the mission of ISRO to send human in the space. In September, 2018 a working group was set up to enhance collaboration between these two countries in the field of human spaceflight.

The CNES also added, "The two nations are pooling their expertise, notably in the domains of space medicine, astronaut health monitoring and life support. Initial exchanges have concentrated on training for India's flight physicians and technical teams and the supply of CNES flight systems.”
