Venus mission scheduled for 2025
Earlier ISRO has
announced to launch its Venus mission, Suhkrayaan-1 in 2025. In a new developed
regarding this mission, French space agency CNES said on
Wednesday that it will take part in the Venus mission of ISRO.
In a statement CNES said
that, the VIRAL (Venus Infrared Atmospheric Gases Linker)
instrument co-developed by LATMOS Atmospheres, an environments
and space observations laboratory attached to the French national scientific
research centre CNRS, in collaboration with Russian federal space
agency Roscosmos has been selected by ISRO to be taken on
board in its mission to Venus.
CNES in a statement
said, “In the domain of space exploration, France will be taking part in ISRO's
mission to Venus, scheduled to launch in 2025. CNES will coordinate and prepare
the French contribution, the first time a French payload will be flown on an
Indian exploration mission.”
However, ISRO has
not made any official announcement regarding this French participation in Shukrayaan-1 mission.
After US and
Russia, France is the 3rd biggest collaborator of India in its space adventure.
India and France are currently working on ISRO’s Gaganyaan Mission, the mission of ISRO to send human in the space. In September, 2018 a working group
was set up to enhance collaboration between these two countries in the field of
human spaceflight.
The CNES also
added, "The two nations are pooling their expertise, notably in the
domains of space medicine, astronaut health monitoring and life support.
Initial exchanges have concentrated on training for India's flight physicians
and technical teams and the supply of CNES flight systems.”
